Lengana

Lengana/umhlonyane is a highly aromatic plant known as 'wildeals' (Afrikaans); umhlonyane (Xhosa and Zulu); lengana (Sotho).

In Southern Africa lengana leaves were used as a tea when one suffered from asthma, colds, sinusitis, colic, flu's, etc. People would take the leaves and either push them up their nostrils or boil them to make a tea with which they would steam, drink or use as an antiseptic. As urbanisation occurred people found it more difficult to find lengana in most parts of the region. BioAfrica saw this as an opportunity to help Southern Africans access the herb they'd been using for centuries in hygienic and convenient packaging.

"Lengana" is still one of the most widely used traditional medicines across Southern Africa. Numerous ailments are treated with it, mainly coughs, colds and influenza but also fever, loss of appetite, colic, headache, earache, malaria and intestinal worms, stomach cramps amongst others.

The lengana ointment is also been used by customers as Nipple cream for relief from breast feeding. Many people have used it for mosquitoes and tick & other insect bites.

LipBalm

The BioAfrica lip care comes in a fresh bubble flavor. It helps dry, chapped lips and keeps lips in good condition.

Lip balm is applied to the lips of the mouth to relieve chapped or dry lips and cold sores. Lip gloss is similar, but generally has only cosmetic properties and ends up drying ones lips. The BioAfrica balm is made from beeswax, glycerin, menthol, scented oils, and various other ingredients. Lip balm may come in small containers, where a finger is used to spread it on the lips.

Pimple Gel

Pimples resulting from the action of hormones on the skin's oil glands (sebaceous glands) which leads to blocked pores and outbreaks of lesions commonly called white heads, pimples or "zits" The lesions usually occur on the face, neck, back, shoulders and chest.

Acne is also caused by sun damage, bad skin care, not drinking enough water, drinking too much alcohol, eating bad food, smoking, junk food, too much caffeine, no exercise, no rest and sleep.

BioAfrica has developed this Pimple gel to overcome this problem. This is an Aloe Vera gel containing tea tree oil, lengana and other BioAfrica essential oils.

Apply at night and in the morning with sunscreen for extra care.

Lengana Oil

Lengana oil is extracted from the lengana/umhlonyane plant. It is concentrated and used for steaming for colds, flu's and asthma. Lengana oil is also used for rubbing joints, food poisoning and treating skin irritations.

Many people get inflamed tonsils and a sore throat. Just drop a few drops in the back of your throat for relief from a sore throat.
